Bachelorette Recap Week 2: Knock Out

Now that the debate of “IS IT KAITLYN OR BRITT” is settled, we can focus on what really matters…Kaitlyn’s journey to find love. Ha. Right. Anyone else hear that Farmer Chris and Whitney are already dunzo? So that was quick. Chris found fame and fortune and probably won’t be a farmer anymore. Poor Whitney.

WEEK 2:
The very first group date card arrives, inviting Daniel, Justin, Jared, Corey, Kupah, both Bens and Tanner on a date which promises will end “with a ring.”

So you guessed it- it’s a boxing dateFlashback to Desiree’s season when they did this Exact. Same. Date and it ended with someone in the hospital….

So what happens? Poor weeble Jared gets punched in the head 1 too many times and spends the afternoon in the Emergency Room.
Come on ABC- come up with some new material- been there, done that.

However
, this Season they did spring for Laila Ali to whip the boys in to shape before the match ups. Unfortunately for Kaitlyn, it seemed Kupah had a bit of a twinkle for Laila, and spent absolutely zero time with Kaitlyn the entire day.
So Laila- if you don’t have a boyfriend- I’m sure Kupah would love to hit you up.

Tryin to sneak a peak, we see you Kaitlyn!

With the exception of the Ben Z. Vs Jared match-up, the fights seem relatively fair and each man gets their share of punches in.

The cocktail party is pretty lax, Jared shows up briefly to give Kaitlyn a kiss, then heads back to the house to recuperate while the boxing champ, Ben Z, gets awarded the group date rose. Yay Ben Z :)

Britt loves Brady:
Flash over to Britt’s hotel room where we see her crying as she calls her mom to break the news that she is packing her bags and coming back home.

But wait, her knight in shining armor is here to save her!

1-on-1:

Kaitlyn chooses Clint for the very first one-on-one of the season. They spend the afternoon doing an under-water photoshoot… in a pool? Weird. They kiss, but other than that the date is pretty uneventful so I won’t bore you with the details.

Group Date 2:
The 2nd group date card arrives for JJ, Jonathan, Chris, Ian, Joe and Tony, inviting them to “stand up for her.” AKA Stand-Up Comedy.
Again- We’ve seen this song and dance many times before. So, ABC brings in Amy Schumer and the rest of her clan of stand-up comedians to spicen things up a bit. Oh, and a lotttttt of wine. That seems to be ABC’s go-to. When in doubt, get them all really drunk.

JJ sits down with Amy and is totally himself…. A complete ass. Or in Amy’s words,
“Is a complete sweetheart who is just missing charisma… and humility… and a sense of humor.”

Unfortunately Kaitlyn hasn’t gotten wind of his assy-ness yet and gives him both a kiss and the  group date rose. Vomit.

At the Rose Ceremony
, JJ immediately steals Kaitlyn away from the pack- thoroughly pissing off the rest of the house and “drawing a line in the sand” between him and the rest of the guys.

Ian
finally gets some on-screen time, in which he tells Kaitlyn about his all-star status at Princeton before being hit by a car and having to completely re-learn how to walk and run again. The story leaves Kaitlyn swooning, making us believe he’s probably safe for the week. Touche Ian.
Meanwhile, Kupah takes the route of self-destruction and tells the camera that
“he has no interest in being here at all if he’s filling out a quota.”

He really sh*ts the bed when he tells Kaitlyn he didn’t feel like they were connecting … which totally blindsides her and seals his own fate.

After a lot of back and forth, Kaitlyn admits that she doesn’t think they can come back from this and gracefully escorts him to the door.
Not willing to go out without making a complete fool of himself- The episode ends with Kupah throwing a temper tantrum outside, yelling at the camera crew. #dramatic
