As much as I enjoy being blonde, sometimes it's a double edge sword. As i've gotten older, my roots have started getting less blonde and more dirty blonde (which totally doesn't look good on me) so i'm forced to touch up my roots every 4-5 weeks so that I don't have any peek-a-boo brown spots.
Unfortunately, that equals super dry and brittle strands if i'm not extra cautious. Lately i've been going to a salon to get $15 Keratin treatments every 4-5 weeks to add moisture back in to my hair after I do my little at-home highlights (Yes, I do it myself...girl on a budget over here).
In addition to the Keratin treatments, I also like to make little at home hair masks to add a little extra boost. You can play around with different ingredients based on what your hair needs are.

Abby’s DIY Hair Mask Recipe:
Ingredients:
·
1 egg (for oily hair- use just the white, and for dry hair use
either just the yolk or add extra yolk)
·
1/2 cup milk
·
1 squeeze lemon
·
2 tablespoons olive oil or coconut oil
·
½ Avocado
Directions:
1.
First, separate the egg white and yolk depending
on your hair type. Place whichever part of the egg you are using in a bowl.
2.
Add milk, olive oil, avocado, and coconut/olive oil and beat
with a whisk until smooth
3.
Add a squeeze of a lemon to the mixture and mix for a few more
seconds
4.
Massage the mixture into hair, focusing on the most damaged
parts. Don’t saturate the scalp too much if you are prone to grease. Let it sit
for as long as you wish (at least 15-20 minutes).
5.
Rinse thoroughly with
cold water, and walah! Super soft shiny hair for super cheap! J
